Just because it’s not Halloween doesn’t mean you can’t binge watch a few horror movies! Check out these scary films hitting Amazon Prime Video in July 2019.

Every month, Amazon releases a plethora of new films and television shows for its Amazon Prime members to watch. The Prime library is brimming with hidden gems, but what about those days when you’re craving good horror movies?

Here’s a handy guide detailing all the horror movies hitting Amazon Prime Video in the month of July!

July 9

Pet Sematary (2019)

This is an updated adaptation of Stephen King’s classic horror novel starring Jason Clarke, John Lithgow, and Amy Seimetz. Louis and Rachel Creed move to a new town with their children only to discover a mysterious pet graveyard in the neighboring woods.

When tragedy strikes, Louis uses the graveyard in ways it was never meant to be tampered with and sets off a perilous chain reaction.

The film received mixed reviews by critics and fans but it’s a brutal horror film and a great rental if that’s what you’re in the mood for. Pet Sematary will be available to purchase on Amazon Video.

July 16

The Curse of La Llorona (2019)

Fans of The Conjuring franchise have been treated well this year with two new movies entering the popular series. First, The Curse of La Llorona and now Annabelle Comes Home, which is currently playing in theaters.

If you missed out on The Curse of La Llorona during its theatrical run, you’ll be able to watch it from the comfort of your own home this month!

The film stars Linda Cardellini as a troubled mother trying to protect herself and her kids from a deadly spirit known as La Llorona. The movie is a supernatural thriller based on the original Mexican folklore.

It also features a familiar face from the Annabelle franchise with Tony Amendola returning as Father Perez. The Curse of La Llorona will be available to purchase on Amazon Video.

July 29

The Haunting of Sharon Tate (2019)

Nearly everybody knows the horrifying story of Sharon Tate. Tate was once married to famous director Roman Polanski but she became a victim of the Manson cult. Her story is a legendary one in real-life Hollywood horror. This new movie has been labeled exploitative by many for its take on her story.

Hilary Duff plays the eponymous role and is joined by Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls), Lydia Hearst (Z Nation), Pawel Szajda (Under the Tuscan Sun), and Ryan Cargill (The Young and The Restless).

Despite a low critical score, the movie did win three awards at the 2019 Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival and many have praised Duff for her strong acting in the film. The Haunting of Sharon Tate will be free to stream for Amazon Prime members.

July 31

Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003) 

The creeper returns in the sequel to the original Jeepers Creepers. This time the ancient beast is prepared to feast upon a bus carrying high school students when it breaks down on an ominous stretch of road in the middle of nowhere.

The movie stars Ray Wise (Twin Peaks) and Jonathan Breck, who makes his return as the title monster. The first film and the third in the trilogy are available to rent through Amazon Video if you need to brush up. Jeepers Creepers 2 will be free to stream for Amazon Prime members.

My Bloody Valentine (2009) 

Jensen Ackles, of Supernatural fame, stars in this 2009 slasher film about a small mining town attacked by a methodical serial killer on the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day. The movie is a remake of the original 1981 film. The movie received mixed to positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

If you’re in the mood for a gory slasher flick then this will be right up your alley. In addition to Ackles, My Bloody Valentine also stars Jaime King (Hart of Dixie), Kerr Smith (Dawson’s Creek), Betsy Rue (Halloween II), and Kevin Tighe (Emergency!). My Bloody Valentine will be free to stream for Amazon Prime members.

Rosemary’s Baby (1968) 

Rosemary’s Baby is a classic horror movie that everyone fan should see at least once in their life. It’s one of the most iconic horror movies ever made and it helped launch Mia Farrow’s career, making her the iconoclast she is today.

The story follows a young couple who move to New York City in a strange apartment complex. When Rosemary becomes pregnant, her neighbors take an invested interest in her and her child. Only when its too late does Rosemary discover the sinister reasons as to why. Rosemary’s Baby will be free to stream for Amazon Prime members.
