15. Elle Woods (Legally Blonde)
Legally Blonde is one of the most well known classic chick flicks, for good reason. This movie is for those who have been knocked down and are standing taller because of it. Although Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is a more exaggerated depiction of who most of us actually are, she is still an inspirational figure.

Legally Blonde has a lot of hidden messages inside of it, when Elle’s professor makes sexual advances towards her, she eventually gets him fired. At the time this movie was released (2001), inappropriate behavior towards women was not a topic many forms of art dared to discuss. Chick flick or not, she is the definition of girl power.

14. Louise Banks (Arrival)
Arrival teaches many life lessons in the span of a few short hours. About how much we are bound by time, life and death, loving unconditionally and more importantly about believing in yourself. The main character Louise Banks (Amy Adams) has been through all of these experiences and is still determined in her pursuit but damaged because of them.
Without diving into spoilers (this movie’s got a twist worth waiting for), Banks is forced to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders. She is often torn between emotions throughout the film but still continues to be dedicated and strong while working on her discovery which was a truly gripping watch.

13. Evelyn Abbott (A Quiet Place)
A Quiet Place is a brilliantly constructed movie, beautifully made with lots of style and atmosphere. Having one of your most vital senses ripped from you creates a tense viewing experience. The suspense is injected into the movie from the moment you start watching and only gets more nerve-wracking as you carry on.
Emily Blunt’s character Evelyn Abbott takes you on her journey, along with the rest of the family. Dealing with the tremendous loss and the duties of supporting a family when it all just feels impossible are themes that will resonate with many women.
The compassion you develop towards Abbott comes natural and it will leave you feeling anxious for her well-being throughout. The amount of terrible experiences Abbott has to endure is heart-wrenching, but she still powers on. She is brave, fierce and unbelievably strong.
