When can I buy The Sun Is Also a Star on DVD, Blu-Ray or Amazon Video?

Following the latest wave of YA romantic comedies, The Sun Is Also a Star is sure to be a hit for teens this weekend. When will you be able to buy the film?

Debuting alongside A Dog’s Journey this weekend is the latest young adult romantic comedy film from best-selling author, Nicola Yoon. The Sun Is Also a Star is a love story taking place over 24 hours in which two teenagers connect in the wake of tragic circumstances.

Yara Shahidi, of Black-ish and Grown-ish fame, stars as Natasha Kingsley, a Jamaican-born college student studying quantum physics. Natasha and her family will be deported in 24 hours. Natasha attempts to make the most of her final hours in the United States.

Enter David Bae, portrayed by Riverdale hunk, Charles Melton. David and Natasha have an instant connection, and suddenly, Natasha’s last day becomes a magical romantic adventure.

Critics haven’t loved Yoon’s second film adaptation. Her first film, Everything, Everything, got a 45% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Sun Is Also a Star is sitting at 54% right now, with time to change. Many were underwhelmed by the lackluster premise and felt the film failed to carry much of a spark.

That said, Everything, Everything found a fanbase with teens and I would be surprised if The Sun Is Also a Star failed to do the same, especially given the popularity of its two gorgeous leads.

Romantic comedies are some of the best films to own at home for a date night at home. When will you be able to buy The Sun Is Also a Star on Amazon?

As I mentioned in my recent article about Detective Pikachu’s release date, Warner Brothers usually takes around three months to release its movies on home video. The Sun Is Also a Star can be expected to release on DVD and Blu-Ray by the end of August or beginning of September.

The digital release will likely come three weeks before the physical, meaning a mid-August date is a solid estimate for purchase on Amazon Video.
