Usually, I do a huge takeaway piece for the Game of Thrones trailers, but the series finale promo doesn’t give us much insight into what to expect. Is there anything to take from it?

Can you believe we’re at the Game of Thrones series finale already? I think this season could have been better if it was the full 10 episodes to give more time for some of the twists and turns, but I’m excited to see how it all finishes. There was hope that the Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 6 promo would give us clues on what to expect, but that isn’t going to happen.

The promo had no words involved at all. The only human sound is that of cheering. It’s clear that the Dothraki is happy with the way things went down in the last episode. After all, they got to pillage, rape, and murder. Of course, they were going to be happy!

Meanwhile, the Unsullied stand stern. Grey Worm led the men to kill and massacre after the bells of surrender. It was a bad decision on their part, breaking the rules of engagement. Jon Snow clearly wasn’t happy but, unsurprisingly, the North Men thought they were following orders by joining in with the fight – I’m just not happy about their actions against the innocent people of King’s Landing.

But this isn’t about what happened. This is about what’s to come. We get to see the Dothraki and Unsullied formed up. Daenerys is on the ground and walking towards them, reminding me very much of Hitler standing above the Nazi soldiers before and during the Second World War. It’s a stark reminder that Dany has become a dictator and is willing to kill whoever she wants. There’s no stopping her now.

Arya watches from behind a member of the Unsullied, while Jon and Davos look around at the destruction. Tyrion walks through the destroyed streets of King’s Landing, looking up at the ruined Red Keep. He knows exactly what has happened to his sister. Well, maybe not exactly, but he knows that she hasn’t survived.

What about Jaime? He probably knows that Jaime has died too. He’s the last Lannister sibling standing but will that be for long? Will Dany turn on him after he let Jaime escape?

All bets are off for the Game of Thrones series finale. Just check out the promo below and get ready for what will likely be an unhappy ending to the series – probably the most realistic thing considering the good guys don’t always win the Game of Thrones.
