American Gods Season 3 writing begins tomorrow
We may only be in the middle of American Gods Season 2, but the production is working on the third season. Writing for American Gods Season 3 begins tomorrow.
American Gods Season 2 is currently partway through. And as exciting as it is, the best news was hearing that a third season had been picked up. Now there’s even better news, as American Gods Season 3 writing begins tomorrow.
Former Outlander writer, Anne Kenney, shared that she is joining the STARZ/Prime series as one of the writers. In the tweet, she shared that the writing was going to begin tomorrow and this is excellent news.

One of the drawbacks for American Gods has been the long wait. In fact, the third season wasn’t a go until a showrunner was in place. The last thing STARZ and Amazon wanted was for the series to have another ridiculously long break between season. This break only happened because the show lost its Season 1 showrunners partway through Season 2 production due to budget restrictions.
With writing starting tomorrow, it means a plan is in mind and there’s hope that production will remain on time throughout the process. This will then bring the third season to STARZ and Prime sometime next year instead of waiting two years!

There’s no word on when American Gods Season 3 will premiere just yet. It usually takes 12-14 months for shows like STARZ and Prime Originals to premiere because all episodes need to be filmed and ready before the show starts airing. As long as writing and production remain on schedule, we could see it sometime between March and May 2020.
