There are two new additions to Amazon Prime Video this weekend. Both dropped on Sept. 22. What will you watch?

We’re getting closer to the end of the month, which means fewer new shows and movies dropping on the service. If you’re all caught up with the beginning of the month drop, you’re probably looking for something new to watch this weekend on Amazon Prime Video.

Two movies dropped on the service in the early hours of this morning. Both cater to a different need and interest, but both are certainly worth watching this weekend.

More from Movies on Amazon

For Colored Girls is the first, which is the 2010 remake of the 1975 choreopoem of the same name. With an all-star cast, this should immediately draw you in. Whoopi Goldberg, Loretta Devine, Kerry Washington, and Janet Jackson (among many other beautiful, talented, inspiring actresses) star in a movie that explores 10 women of color and their lives of pain, fear, desperation, love, loss, and much more.

The movie was Tyler Perry’s first R-rated movie and each woman represents a color. This color is linked to her life and the events that happen.

The second movie that’s dropped is Hot Summer Nights. It’s a coming-of-age drama movie, where a young boy is sent away for the summer. While there, he makes new friends, falls in love with a girl, and starts selling drugs. Of course, there’s much more that goes within that and the trailer certainly breaks down everything that you can expect.

This is going to be interesting for Beautiful Boy fans. Timothée Chalamet stars in the movie as the teen that is sent away, so you’ll get a chance to see his acting before the Steve Carell movie is released next month.

September 2018 has been an exciting month for old and new movies on Amazon Prime Video. This weekend may only see two drops but they are both intense movies that are definitely worth watching. Both of these are available with your Prime membership.
