What’s on Amazon Prime Video this weekend, Sept. 8-9?
After the big drop last weekend, Amazon Prime Video is going to seem very quiet Sept. 8-9. Here’s what you can watch this weekend.
Amazon Prime Video had a big drop last weekend since it was the first of the month. That will certainly make this weekend seem quiet. Chances are you’ve not got through everything that was released last week, so you’ll have them to follow up on this week.
But what about new movies and shows? There are two movies dropping this weekend, both on Saturday.
At least, there are supposed to be. It turns out some of the drops that were supposed to be for Amazon Prime Video last week were on the wrong second of the U.S. press release or they failed to materialize. The Strangers: Prey at Night I’m looking at you!

Sept. 8 will see the 2010 movie From Paris with Love drop. If you’ve still to see it and you’re a fan of The Tudors because of Jonathan Rhys Meyers then you’re in luck. Okay, so it’s not a Tudor period movie. It’s set in the modern day about James Reese, played by our former Henry VIII.
Meyers is an ambassador’s aid in France but he actually has a minor role in the CIA and wants to become a full-fledged agent. What happens to come by but an assignment with John Travolta’s Charlie Wax. James soon realizes that his desk job may have been better for him, but soon he needs Charlie’s help from the bad guys they’re meant to be after.
If you want to sit back and just laugh on a Saturday night, this is going to be the movie for you. Don’t take it seriously and you will enjoy it.
Stronger
The 2017 movie with Jake Gyllenhaal is the one I’m not 100% on whether it was on the right list from the Amazon Prime Video press release. It’s supposed to be one of the freely available to stream but considering it was only out last year that might not be the case.
Based on a true story, Gyllenhaal took on a dramatic role once again. He plays Jeff Bauman, who was at the Boston Marathon when the bombing took place on April 15, 2013. While Jeff was able to identify one of the suspects, he also lost both his legs in the explosion and goes on a journey of rehab both physically and emotionally.
At the same time, everyone wants to make him a hero, which is certainly not the way he feels. This is going to be one of those emotional biographies that you need to watch this weekend. I sincerely hope this wasn’t another mistake in the release.

From Paris with Love and Stronger will both be out on Sept. 8 on Amazon Prime Video.
