Amazon Prime U.S. members can now add a kids’ book subscription

PYONGYANG, NORTH KOREA - AUGUST 21: Children's books are displayed at Pyongyang Teachers College on August 21, 2018 in Pyongyang, North Korea. Despite ongoing international negotiations aimed at easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea remains the most isolated and secretive nation on earth. Since it's formation in 1948 the country has been led by the Kim dynasty, a three-generation lineage of North Korean leadership descended from the country's first leader, Kim Il-sung followed by Kim Jong-il and grandson and current leader, Kim Jong-un. Although major hostilities ceased with the signing of the Armistice in 1953, the two Koreas have remained technically at war and the demilitarised zone along the border continues to be the most fortified border in the world. If you’re in the U.S., there’s some awesome news for parents. The kids’ book subscription is finally here for Amazon Prime members.

Amazon Prime has brought out a range of subscription services and offers. The latest is geared towards parents and guardians, offering a kids’ book subscription service. While the downside is that it’s U.S. only, there’s hope that this is right now. Should it prove popular, maybe it will stretch worldwide.

Amazon really wants your children to enjoy reading and wants them to have something new each month. For $29.99 per box, you’ll get access to two-four books (depending on the age of your children). You can choose from one box per month, every two months, or every three months.

You’ll need to give Amazon the ages of your children. Those two and under will get hard “board books.” They’re full of colors and perfect for small children who put everything in their mouths. Four books are included in one of these boxes.

Over the age of two, there are traditional hardcover books. Your children will get two books in a subscription.

All books are chosen by “Amazon book editors,” according to Fortune. These are humans who look at the various books available and determine the types that your children would likely love to read. You can then put together your own boxes based on the recommendations or leave everything a surprise for you and your children to open.

Personally, I’d love for this to come to Canada where I’m based. Book subscriptions are positive things for children and $22.99 per box for two books for older children is reasonable. I can easily spend $12-$15 per book for my children and they love to read! Anything to encourage more reading is always a plus in my opinion.
