 2. Vince meets Marius.

  • Episode 2, “Safe”

Eddie introduced Vince to Marius in order to help his brother make some money. Vince entered the diner with an arrogant and snarky attitude. Vince felt as if he could easily solve Marius’ financial problems. Eddie played up Vince’s ego when he informed Marius that Vince was quite the poker player. Vince, of course, does not deny this accusation as he stared at Marius with a vain look on his face.

Therefore, Marius performed a card trick for Vince who would have to guess the card lying faced down on the countertop inside the diner. Of course, Vince guessed incorrectly, so Marius somehow attacked Vince’s ego with this small trick. Additionally, Vince continued to insist that he did not want to work with Marius’ program since it was a con. Perhaps, he should have listened to his instincts.

Here, Bryan Cranston channeled his inner Walter White. After a while, Walter developed an arrogance that he was untouchable as the legendary Heisenberg. Unfortunately, his arrogance got the best of him in certain situations just as arrogance got the best of Vince in this scene.
