Will Fly Me to the Moon come to DVD and Blu-ray?

Fly Me to the Moon isn't getting a traditional streaming release after theaters. What does this mean about the DVD release? Will there be one?

We would usually be pretty confident that a theatrically released movie would head to DVD and Blu-ray in the future. That’s not the case with Fly Me to the Moon.

Set toward the end of the Space Race, the White House has deemed it essential that the U.S. gets to the moon. The U.S. needs to beat the Soviets, even if it means through faking it. To ensure a win, the White House demands that the landing on the moon is taped, faking it just to use as a backup if necessary.

Of course, we know there are plenty of conspiracy theorists out there who believe that the Moon Landing was faked. The question for those watching this is whether the movie will go that route, or if it will put Neil Armstrong on the moon.

Fly Me to the Moon will still likely head to DVD and Blu-ray

The movie is a Sony Pictures release, which means that it would usually head to DVD and Blu-ray a couple of months after the theatrical release. It’s hard to say for definite as to whether that will happen this time or not. You see, usually a Sony movie would head to Netflix to stream, but this movie is going to head to Apple TV+.

One of the production studios is Apple Studios, which is why the deal is a little weirder compared to normal. It could mean that a DVD release doesn’t happen.

However, Apple still tends to release its original movies and some shows to DVD and Blu-ray. We’ve see it with the likes of Defending Jacob and the first season of For All Mankind. We haven’t seen it with everything, though. With the movie coming out in theaters, I’m on the side of Fly Me to the Moon heading to DVD, but that’s not likely before the end of 2024.
