Who is Larry Kripke? (The Boys dedication explained)
When someone important from a series passes, there is usually a dedication card to them. The Boys Season 4 did that at the end of the finale for Larry Kripke.
Yes, you will recognize the surname. After all, Eric Kripke is the showrunner of The Boys. He has helped turn this series from the graphic novels into something different and exciting. It’s clear that Larry was related to Eric in some way, but how?
The Boys dedication: Larry Kripke is Eric Kripke’s father
Larry Kripke was the father of Eric Kripke. He passed away at the age of 80 in February 2024. The obituary states that he passed away peacefully, after many years fighting Parkinson’s Disease.
Larry wasn’t involved in The Boys, but he was understandably important to Eric. He deserves a dedication at the end of the fourth season, considering that was going through some final post-production work at the same time of the death.
Larry owned Kripke Enterprises, an aluminum brokerage, with his eldest son Matt. His wife Joanie was also involved in the business, running the books.
Eric Kripke chose not to go into the family business. Instead, he creates TV shows and movies. What is on the amusing side considering he chose not to go into the family business is that his popular series Supernatural focuses on Dean and Sam Winchester forced into their “family business.” Sam did try to get out and went to college, but he was eventually pulled back in. He then tried to leave again, but was pulled back in when Dean returned from Purgatory.
The Boys is now on a break. The fifth and final season has been confirmed, with Kripke sharing that it will likely take two years to work on. The good news is we should have Gen V Season 2 next week to keep us occupied and to further the story after the events of the Season 4 finale.
