When should MaXXXine come to DVD and Blu-ray?
Eyes are on MaXXXine, currently out in theaters. This is the third movie in the X trilogy, and there’s no doubt that you’ll want to add it to your DVD collection.
The third movie is a direct sequel to X. After escaping the Texas massacre attempt, Maxine is back in Los Angeles. She just wants to live her life, but there’s an issue. It’s 1985 and the Night Stalker is doing the rounds. Now Maxine needs to figure out how to avoid another serial killer. This brings a real history aspect to the latest horror story for the young starlet.
As the movie is only just out in theaters, it doesn’t have a DVD release date just yet. This is an A24 movie, so we can look at other recent movies from A24 to see when we can expect it.
When could MaXXXine head to DVD and Blu-ray?
For the purpose of this post, we’re looking at Civil War and Beau Is Afraid to get an idea of what MaXXXine will head to DVD. It took both movies just short of three months to go from theaters to DVD.
We’re looking at this horror flick to head to DVD around Tuesday, Oct. 1. It could be out a week earlier, but that’s the earliest that we expect it. It looks like A24 is looking to be as close to the 90-day exclusivity window for theaters as it can get.
The Digital release is going to be harder to figure out. Beau Is Afraid took around two months to head to Digital, while Civil War only took a month. With that in mind, we’re looking at anywhere between Tuesday, Aug. 6 and Tuesday, Sept. 3 for MaXXXine to head to Digital, which is when you’ll be able to buy or rent it via Amazon Instant Video.
