What happened to Hughie's dad in The Boys Season 4, Episode 4?
Hughie had a tough choice to make in The Boys Season 4, Episode 4. Was he willing to do everything it took to save his dad’s life, or was he willing to say goodbye?
Caution: This post contains spoilers from The Boys Season 4, Episode 4.
There were a lot of personal storylines going on throughout The Boys Season 4, Episode 4. One of those was for Hughie, who has been dealing with his mom’s return and his dad’s stroke since the start of the season.
He learned that there was no way to overturn his mom’s power of attorney. That doesn’t mean he wants to accept that his dad is going to die. So, he turned to A-Train for help. He wanted Compound-V.
A-Train got Hughie some Compound-V in The Boys
Despite the risks, A-Train came through. As he handed it over, he’d resigned himself to Hughie never forgiving him for what he did to Robyn. Quite honestly, A-Train has never really shown remorse for that, so I don’t see why he should get forgiveness.
Hughie is a stronger person than I am. Realizing that he is done with holding onto hate, he does forgive A-Train. Is it possible that the two can continue on with these somewhat civil interactions now?
Whatever it means, the focus had to be on Hughie’s dad in the episode. Would Hughie give his dad Compound-V?
Butcher shared some surprising news with Hughie
Hughie wasn’t alone. Butcher had followed him, and he had some wise words. It was time to let nature run its course.
Butcher didn’t for himself. He got his hands on some V when he learned he was dying. It didn’t work, though. Instead, it sped up the whole thing. I’m not sure that’s the case with what actually happened to Butcher during the episode, though. But Butcher believes that he is still dying. Compound-V doesn’t fix everything.
The conversation makes Hughie rethink everything. He decides not to use the V in the hospital. He leaves the room and comes back with coffee for him and his mom.
Suddenly, his dad wakes up.
Did Hughie leave the V in his pocket of his jacket in the room? Is it possible that his mom gave his dad the V? Is it possible that his mom had given him the V at another point? Or maybe someone else is up to something? Either way, this sudden recovery is suspicious.
