Walker cancellation could be good news for The Boys fans

Eric Kripke loves to keep his shows all in the family, and we have had a few Supernatural cameos throughout the seasons. Could The Boys Season 5 get Jared Padalecki now that Walker is canceled?

The cancellation of Walker is certainly bad news for fans of the Western crime drama. Fans of the series would love to see more, but fans of The Boys may finally get something they’ve been waiting for.

It’s all about that Supernatural dream. Eric Kripke has had it from the start, and so have Supernatural fans. We would love to see Jared Padalecki in at least an episode. The problem is that Walker’s filming schedule has made that dream highly improbable.

Kripke has opted for former Supernatural actors from the beginning. We just have to look at Jim Beaver, who came into The Boys as Robert Singer (following his role as Bobby Singer in Supernatural) and then Jensen Ackles landing the role of Soldier Boy in Season 3. The fourth season will see Jeffrey Dean Morgan step into a still undisclosed role. Rob Benedict, who played Chuck in SPN, will also be in the fourth season playing a Supe called Splinter.

Could Jared Padalecki be in The Boys Season 5?

Kripke is up for Jared Padalecki to make it into the series. He views the cancellation of Walker as a potentially good thing for him, as it means he can catch all his Supernatural Pokemon.

"But now, unfortunately, [‘Walker’] got canceled — but the good thing is he’s free,” and I feel like I have to complete my game of ‘Supernatural’ Pokémon and I have my one big one — very big one — left to catch."

It sounds like everyone is on board with the idea of Padalecki coming into the series. The question is whether Padalecki would. One of the reasons Supernatural came to an end was due to the filming of the series in Vancouver while his family lived in Austin. The Boys films in Toronto, so it’s a similar work schedule. The difference with the Prime Video series is that the seasons are shorter, and Kripke could find a role that doesn’t have the same grugruelingelling schedule that Supernatural had for its two leads.

Padalecki has spoken about coming into the series, and he is up for it on one condition: he needs time. He’s not in the same shape that he was in, which means he wants time for a nutritionist and a personal trainer. Ackles has spoken about how the “padding” in the suit wasn’t padding at all, but he had to put the gym work in, so Padalecki just needs that warning.

"'I’m in, but let me get a nutritionist and a trainer and get in the hyperbaric chamber for eight months before you make me show up.' But yeah, it would obviously be a lot of fun to see Kripke again and to work on that show, which is a great show that I’m a fan of."

There should be time for that. Writing work for The Boys Season 5 has only just started, so filming won’t start until the end of the year at the earliest. Someone just needs to let Padalecki know that he’s required.
