Will Amazon save Walker? (Could the Jared Padalecki series be saved?)

Walker is the latest series canceled by the broadcast networks. What are the chances of Amazon stepping in to save it?

In a disappointing move, The CW has canceled Walker after four seasons. The Season 4 finale will now act as the series finale.

There is some hope that the season finale will work as a series finale. It sounds like the writers had a feeling this could happen and haven’t left us with a major cliffhanger. That doesn’t mean fans are happy about the series being canceled. Now eyes are on whether it could be saved.

What are the chances of Amazon stepping in to save the show? After all, the streamer hasn’t saved anything from the 2023–2024 season. To be honest, nothing has been saved this season, and it is a little disappointing for broadcast fans.

Walker isn’t being shopped around, so saving it is unlikely

As much as fans would potentially love to see more of the series, it doesn’t sound like this is going to happen. And it isn’t on Amazon. Instead, this is on the series.

The show doesn’t sound like it’s being shopped around based on reports of the cancellation. In fact, the sets were reportedly being dismantled before the cancellation news, as everyone felt like this was going to happen. For a streamer to save the series, it would mean now rebuilding the sets, and that would cost more money.

Would Amazon have saved it otherwise?

This could have been a great series to add to the Prime Video lineup. After all, it would suit Outer Range pretty well for the Western theme. While Outer Range is also a sci-fi series, at the heart of it is the ranch storyline. Walker is a Western crime drama.

However, it is a CBS Studios series. This would mean licensing it out. While this costs less than creating something itself, there could have been a better streamer to move the show to if it was going to be saved. It would have made a great addition to Paramount+, especially considering the popularity of Yellowstone, another western series.

I don’t think the international viewership is quiet where Amazon would have liked it to be to save it, even if it was being shopped around.
