Upload Season 3 came to an end in November, and it’s taken until March to get the renewal news. You may have worried that the series was canceled due to the delay. We actually ended up getting some bittersweet news.

There is going to be a fourth season of the series. Amazon has confirmed this, but it comes with the news that the season will be the last.

Of course, with how the third season ended, we needed a fourth season. Is it a good thing that the show is ending with this season, though?

Why is Upload Season 4 going to be the last?

It turns out that this isn’t wholly an Amazon decision. According to TVLine, Greg Daniels, the mind behind the series, always thought of four seasons for this story. This is a series that Daniels thought about many years ago at a time when CGI technology wasn’t the best to bring the idea to life. He’s had plenty of time to see how something like this could play out.

And here we are. Amazon has agreed to renew the show for a fourth and final season. This gives the writing team chance to get the storyline planned out and really bring Nathan, Nora, and Ingrid’s stories to an end.

The last we left them, Nora and Ingrid had their own Nathans. Nora had the real Nathan while Ingrid had Back Up Nathan and was perfectly happy with him. Well, she was once she realized that she needed to stop sabotaging herself. Ingrid said yes to Back Up Nathan’s proposal while Nathan was getting ready to propose to Nora.

However, both Nathans were taken when it was ruled that duplicates had to be deleted. One Nathan does survive, but which one and where is he? We need answers to these questions and much more as the show comes to an end.
