The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 probably won't premiere until 2025

If there’s one series we’re waiting for news about, it’s The Summer I Turned Pretty. The third season is happening, but everyone has been rather quiet about what’s going on and when to expect it.

The first two seasons were released in the summers of 2022 and 2023 respectively. We had hoped that The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 would come out in summer 2024. There was just a major issue with that. While the series was renewed before the strike action, the strike action put writing and filming on hold.

With recent rumors of production starting up, it’s looking like we’ll have to wait until next year for the episodes. Does that mean the summer?

When will production for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 start?

Writing couldn’t start until September 2023 at the earliest. This is a show where all scripts would need to be written before production could start up, and then the show would need to make sure all schedules lined up.

According to PEOPLE Magazine, an industry insider shared that production wouldn’t start until the spring of 2024. Of course “industry insiders” aren’t always the most credible sources, but it gives fans a rough idea of what’s going on.

Gavin Casalegno, who plays Jeremiah on the series, shared what he had heard about filming. Back in February, he told Entertainment Tonight that he’d heard rumors of filming starting in March. However, he also noted that he had zero idea of the script. The turnaround time for actors to get scripts and start filming is often short, so he’d be used to that, so March was still plausible.

If filming started up in March, then we’d probably be looking at October or November as an end date. That’s just a rough guide, and something that Casalegno shared was all based on rumors at the point he talked about it.

When will Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty come to Prime Video?

So, it brings us to looking at when the season could arrive on Prime Video. After filming, there is post-production. That doesn’t take as long for a show like The Summer I Turned Pretty compared to a show like The Boys or Upload, which means 2025 is a likely release year for the series.

We know during the strike action that Amazon was looking ahead at its 2025 slate. The Peripheral and A League of Their Own were “unrenewed” because they wouldn’t be ready in 2024, and Amazon said it couldn’t fit them into 2025. We’re still disappointed by that news, but it suggests that when renewing The Summer I Turned Pretty, it was with the idea that it would arrive in 2025.

Will it be the summer of 2025? That would make the most sense considering the title of the series. I could see June 2025 working.
