It’s time to see the newer version of The Color Purple. It’s the same story with some more modern graphics and forms of storytelling.
You can head to theaters right now to see the newer version of the story. It follows Celia, a woman who is torn away from her children and forced to wed an abusive man. She needs to find all sorts of inner strength to survive, and along the way, she finds a sisterhood she never expected.
Of course, while the movie is in theaters, you’ll also want to add it to your DVD collection. That means knowing when it will be released. Here’s a look at a potential date.
A potential release date for The Color Purple on DVD and Blu-ray
There isn’t a set date just yet. That’s not surprising considering the Warner Bros. movie is only just out in theaters.
It took three and a half months for Meg 2 to head to DVD, but it took four months for Oppenheimer to get the same treatment. It certainly looks like Warner Bros. is looking to move back to the 90-day exclusivity window, although it’s not doing that with all movies. With this in mind, we could see The Color Purple head to DVD and Blu-ray around Tuesday, April 9, 2024. We may have to wait as long as Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
What about on Digital? Oppenheimer didn’t come out on Digital until the DVD release, but Meg 2 came out on Digital just three weeks after the theatrical release. We could see The Color Purple on Digital as early as the middle of January 2024.
The Color Purple is currently out in theaters.
