There’s a new Star Wars series to check out. It’s all about The Acolyte, which premieres today, Tuesday, June 4. Of course, you’ll want to immediately jump into it, whether you’re a lover or a hater of the new wave of Star Wars.

The series is set around 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I. It’s at the end of the High Republic era, and follows a Jedi Master investigating a series of crimes. This leads to him coming across a former Padawan learner.

Of course, something sinister is going on. We know what’s to come in the universe. It’s time to find out what that lead-up to The Phantom Menace was like.

The Acolyte won’t be available on Prime Video

We start off this post with the bad news. You won’t be able to watch the series on Prime Video. Like all other Star Wars shows, The Acolyte is a Disney+ Original. The only place to stream it is on Disney+.

There’s little chance that the series will ever head to Prime Video. After all, there’s no reason for Disney and Amazon to share content. Disney+ also isn’t an Amazon Channel to make it easier to watch with an Amazon Prime membership.

The Acolyte probably won’t come to Amazon Video

What about Amazon Instant Video? This is where we have more bad news. It’s highly unlikely that we’ll see The Acolyte released on Digital. This means it won’t likely be on Amazon Instant Video. Putting the content on Digital means people are less likely to sign up to subscription services, and Disney wants to encourage people to subscribe!

In some good news, there is a chance that the series will head to DVD and Blu-ray. While Disney held back on releasing its TV shows on DVD, that changed last year. We’ve seen the likes of The Mandalorian and the Marvel shows head to DVD and Blu-ray. It’s hard to say what the timeframe is going to look like since there’s been such a delay, but we could see the DVD release within the next 12 months.
