Are you looking for the perfect movie to take the kids to see this year? Maybe you’re looking for the perfect date-night option. There are some excellent movies across all the genres coming out in the first half of 2024.
It’s hard to see them all. And there are some that may not even interest you. You don’t want to miss something big and exciting, though.
So, to cut out the overwhelm, we’ve got a list of the most highly anticipated movies coming to theaters in the first half of 2024 (we’ll have another list for the second half of the year). Some are already out, while others are still to come. The list is in release date order.
Mean Girls
Mean Girls is part reboot of the 2004 movie and a movie adaptation of the Broadway production. It is the same story that you know. Cady is the new girl at school and has to figure out the cliques. She ends up befriending Regina George, the head of The Plastics.
This is a great movie about bullying and acceptance. The 2024 update brings a slightly fresher look at some of the problems in high school and how to act instead. It’s great for tweens, teens, and adults looking for nostalgia.
Mean Girls came out on Jan. 19, 2024.
Madame Web
How about a superhero movie? We’re continue the expansion of the Spider-Man universe. We’ve seen Morbius and Venom over recent years, and now we’re heading to the female supe Madame Web.
Dakota Johnson takes on the lead role. Don’t judge her for the terrible storyline that was 50 Shades of Grey. Johnson can act, and she shows us that in this movie.
Johnson plays Cassandra Webb, a paramedic who starts to show signs of clairvoyance. When a mysterious evil wants three young girls, Cassandra will do anything to protect them, while facing the secrets of her own past.
Madame Web is out in theaters on Feb. 14, 2024.
Dune: Part Two
If you loved the first movie, you’ll certainly want to check out the sequel. And if you haven’t seen Dune yet, you better head to Amazon Video to get it right now! It wasn’t surprising that there was a quick sequel after the success of this one.
Paul Atreides unites with Chani and the Fremen as they get revenge. Paul needs to get justice for his family. However, when he has to choose between love and the fate of the universe, he realizes that sometimes he doesn’t get what he wants. Only he can see the future, but is he able to prevent it?
Dune: Part Two is out in theaters on March 1, 2024.
