CBS has canceled two shows from the 2023–2024 season already. So Help Me Todd is one of them, and the fans are not happy.

The cancellation didn’t quite come as a shock for Deadline, but it was a disappointing decision nonetheless. The dramedy brought us a fun story of a meticulous attorney working with her “scruffy” son, who became her in-house private investigator. Together, Margaret and Todd would find ways to help Margaret’s clients out of some sticky situations.

Todd also had a chance to prove that he is a capable sleuth. As the black sheep of the family, Margaret didn’t always give him credit. That was until they worked on their first case together and she got to see him at work.

Why was So Help Me Todd canceled?

Before looking at whether Amazon could save the series, we need to look at the reason behind the cancellation. This was a network decision rather than a creator or studio decision. So Help Me Todd just wasn’t performing that strongly among the many CBS shows.

We know that some shows have to be canceled each year. This is the only way to create room on the schedule for new shows. Sadly, this is one that got cut.

Could Amazon save So Help Me Todd?

What are the chances of the series being saved? Well, this is slim, if I’m being honest. One of the issues with a broadcast show is that it’s not always easy to tell how well it’s performing internationally. Shows can end up released internationally months behind the U.S. release, and that means the viewing figures are behind.

There isn’t a lot of noise for So Help Me Todd compared to a few other shows that have been canceled. We just have to look at how SWAT and Station 19 fans immediately took to social media to make noise about their shows. While it’s not seen Station 19 saved (yet!), it did help to U-turn SWAT’s initially cancellation and then U-turn the final season order.

This would be a show that would work for the Amazon audience, though. The series has a feeling of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel when it comes to the storytelling of an adult child gaining parental approval they didn’t get before. We get the mixture of comedy and drama, while focusing on legal issues. The downside is the procedural storytelling, which doesn’t work as well for Amazon, but that’s something that could be re-worked if it was saved.

I just don't think we'll see this series saved.
