Amazon has just confirmed The Boys Season 5 will happen (ahead of Season 4's premiere)

Amazon’s Upfront presentation has brought us some exciting news when it comes to renewals. The streamer has done it again, confirming another early renewal of The Boys.

Yes, The Boys Season 5 is officially happening. This news comes a month before the release of Season 4 on Prime Video. There has been a lot of hype around the fourth season with the diabolical trailer and the poster that involves a few flying sheep.

The Boys Season 5 is happening

The news came with a great statement from Eric Kripke, who clearly loves his job. He does say that with some of the things he’s promised, he’s now not sure what to write about. Well, maybe some promises are broken. After all, in the words of Kripke’s other character Dean Winchester, “people lie; that’s how they become president.” There’s plenty of lying to become president on The Boys. Take a look at Kripke's comments:

"The Boys could be the best job I’ll ever have. What other show allows me to write about politics, capitalism, family, and exploding genitalia, though not in that order. The cast and crew are deeply grateful to Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to tell this story for another season. My only problem is that since this year promises to be free of any conflict or misinformation, we’re not sure what to write about."

Throughout The Boys Season 3 and Gen V Season 1, we learned Victoria Neuman was running for president. Well, it looks like she has the vote. This is a woman who is a Supe but hides that identity from others. She is under Homelander’s thumb, though, who is gathering Supes to take over the world in Season 4.

What to expect in The Boys Season 5

Of course, there are absolutely no details about the fifth season. One great thing so far is that it’s not been billed as the final season. This remains one of the most popular shows on Prime Video, so it’s sure to stay there until Kripke has finished telling the story or until the viewership drops.

We won’t get details until the end of Season 4. This season needs to remain unspoiled, so we can see all the gore, the drama, and the twists that will come.

The fourth season will see the vigilantes getting a little desperate. Butcher, who only has months to live, has learned there is a virus that kills Supes. He wants to use it. Of course, it sounds like Starlight isn’t all that happy about the idea of a virus that could kill her, so she doesn’t want to use it. They are at the point where they’re desperate, though.

The Boys Season 4 premieres on Thursday, June 13 on Prime Video.
