Gen V

Need an out-of-this-world superhero experience? Well, The Boys is a great show but that has three seasons to work through. That’s too many for Super Bowl night. Instead, you’ll want to turn your attention to the spin-off series Gen V. It does help to know the original series for this, but you don’t really need to if you just want to enjoy the college-based story.

The series follows Marie Moreau, an orphan who is a Supe. She has just been accepted into the prestigious college for Supes, and quickly learns that there is some sort of conspiracy going on. She and a group of fellow Supes work to get to the bottom of it, only to realize that they may not be able to trust one of their own.

There is only one season right now, but this series has been renewed for a second season.

Forever

Finally, we end with a comedy series that actually focuses on a darker topic. It’s all about death. Or more like life after death.

Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen play a happily married couple. Well, they seem happily married. Oscar is. Everything is as he wants it to be with a set routine. June is getting bored of this, though. She decides to encourage Oscar to go on a ski trip, and that’s where things go terribly wrong. When it comes to the afterlife, they’re left wondering whether it will be the same forever or if there is something new out there. Can you find life after death?

Forever was canceled after one season. The ending sort of works but the show is worth watching just for the meaning behind it all.
