There’s been some bad news for fans of various Amazon shows. Harlan Coben’s Shelter is just one show ending with one season.

The SAG-AFTRA strike coming to an end was supposed to lead to some good news about shows. Instead, multiple streamers have opted to cancel a lot of their original content.

Amazon started the bad news during the strike, unrenewing The Peripheral and A League of Their Own. Now the streamer has continued the bad news with the cancellation of three shows, including Harlan Coben’s Shelter.

The series developed the YA book series, and it left things on some major cliffhangers for various characters. Now fans will need to turn to the books to see some of the answers. There just won’t be as many as the show could offer as there were some substantial changes to the story for the Amazon series.

Will Harlan Coben’s Shelter be saved by another streamer?

Deadline didn’t report that Shelter would be shopped around. If it was, Netflix would have been a good home. After all, that streamer already has adaptations of Coben’s other novels. However, it could be difficult for Netflix to pick up the series.

A lot of streaming contracts make it difficult for another streamer to save a show after cancellation. It’s possible that that’s the case here, and this isn’t a series that would work well on broadcast networks. It already has an international base, so it needs to move to another streamer.

So, that means the cliffhanger ending is likely what we’ll have to put up with. While the initial mystery was solved, we have a lot more questions, and we’re gutted that another show with an inclusive cast has been canceled. We need more of these shows; not less!
