Upload started off with a love triangle, but Season 3 brought us a love square. What happens now in Season 4? Is the series heading back to a love triangle?

From the beginning of Upload, we’ve had a sort of love triangle. Ingrid wanted Nathan back, but he didn’t really want to be with her. However, he chose her during the second season for a while, yet his heart still belonged to Nora.

The third season changed everything. With Original Nathan being in the real world and Backup Nathan not remembering some of the events that happened, it led to an interesting love square. This led to some characters coming to an understanding and gaining a friendship.

Upload won’t have the same love triangle

Something that Greg Daniels says that he doesn’t want to do is go backward. That means that we shouldn’t expect the same love triangle that we had from before. That doesn’t mean there won’t be a love triangle in Upload Season 4.

Things are going to be different with some of the storylines. After all, Ingrid and Nora are now friends. They’re almost sisters-in-law when you think of the men that they are in love with—the men they could be willing to marry. This creates a very different set up for a love triangle immediately. They’re not two strangers who owe each other nothing anymore. They have gone through a lot together.

Then there’s the fact that they don’t know which Nathan has survived yet. If this is Original Nathan, he has no feelings for Ingrid anymore. If it’s Backup Nathan, he has proposed to Ingrid and that version doesn’t really know the Nora now after everything that’s happened. Backup Nathan isn’t Nora’s Nathan. That doesn’t mean the feelings just go away.

It certainly creates some interesting storylines for the next season. Now we just need Amazon to renew the show.
