Some of the best content on Netflix was first a book. Is that the case with All the Light We Cannot See? Who wrote the source material?

There is a lot of content now adapted from books. Just look at Apple TV+ bringing Lessons in Chemistry and The Last Thing He Told Me recently. It isn’t hard to start thinking that a lot of content is going to be based on a book.

Is that the case for All the Light We Cannot See on Netflix? This miniseries is a powerful story of two very different people in the same war. Their paths lead to the same place, and we see how it all plays out over the course of the story.

All the Light We Cannot See book

This is a series that is based on a book. You will want to get All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

It’s an intriguing storyline that alternates between two points of view. The first is of Marie-Laure LeBlanc, a young French girl who has to go into hiding when the Germans attack France in World War II. The second is of Werner Pfennig, a blind German boy who is pulled into the war for the Germans.

There are many parts of the story that take place during the Battle of Saint-Malo in 1944, but there are other parts that follow past events, starting in 1934. While there are some nonlinear elements in the story, the flashbacks do follow chronologically to make it easy to follow.

The novel was release din 2014, and it has been a popular release since then. It’s not surprising to see it adapted into a miniseries.
