The Wheel of Time Season 2 comes to an end this week. You’ll certainly want more afterward, but will there be a third season?

Can you believe that we’re coming to the end of another season of The Wheel of Time? The fantastical series feels like it’s only just started!

This is one of those shows that has a lot of storytelling and world building going on. We need more to it, but the question is whether Amazon thinks that too or not. It’s not often that we find out about renewals too early, but we have some great news about this show.

The Wheel of Time Season 3 is officially happening

We got the good news about the series very early on. The Wheel of Time was renewed for Season 3 back in July 2022. That was way more than a year before the second season even arrived on the streaming platform. With a show this popular and one that takes so long to produce, this probably isn’t too surprising to hear.

Writing was able to start right away. Filming started in April 2023, and it continued throughout the SAG-AFTRA strike action. It looks like this is a series that isn’t under the SAG-AFTRA union, which allowed it to keep filming during the strike. Filming is set to continue until November of this year.

This suggests that we will get to see the series in 2025. After all, the first season dropped at the end of 2021, and then the second season arrived in September 2023. That could mean a July 2025 release date.

It will follow the fourth book in the series, and this doesn’t look to be a show that is looking to end anytime soon. However, it will be interesting to see what happens with the SAG-AFTRA strike still happening and the change to Prime Video’s costs.
