Citadel Season 2 is not coming to Prime Video in September 2023

As the strike action continues, our eyes are on the future of Amazon shows. Will Citadel Season 2 happen, and when will it premiere?

The strike action in Hollywood has brought some concerns for our favorite shows. We’ve already seen Amazon revoke the renewals of The Peripheral and A League of Their Own. What about other shows?

The freshman shows are the most in danger. It’s harder to keep an audience interested if there is a long wait for the second season, and we know there will be a wait for Citadel. However, it doesn’t look like this is a series that will be in trouble. This show was likely already planned for the 2025 schedule rather than the 2024 schedule.

All we know at the moment is that it won’t arrive in September 2023. We didn’t even need the list of releases to know that.

When will Citadel Season 2 premiere on Prime Video?

Amazon is never all that clear in its future plans. While we know the second season is happening, we don’t know if the network wanted it to come out next year or not. It used to take about 14 months between seasons, but not it is taking longer. The post-production process can take just as long as the production process for many shows.

Amazon has Citadel: Diana coming out in 2024. That could give this series starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden a little extra breathing room to get the second season done. That’s great news with the current strike action as SAG-AFTRA shows are not able to film right now.

It’s not clear how much pre-production had been done. There were rumors of the second season before the official renewal, suggesting that it had been given the greenlight early knowing how long the production process could take even without the strike action. I wouldn’t count on seeing it until 2025, though.
