A lot of TV shows and movies were originally books. What about Shelter coming to Prime Video this week? Is that series based on a book?

There are two ways to watch shows that have source material. You can enjoy the series first and then read the book, which will mean you have the view of the characters from the show in your head when you read. Alternatively, you can read the source material first. You just need time to do that.

That’s why it’s important to find out if a series is based on a book or not. Shelter arrives on Prime Video at the end of the week, and this is another series that has source material that it was adapted from. The series is based on the first book in Harlan Coben’s Mickey Bolitar series.

What is Harlan Coben’s Shelter about?

Fans know all about Myron Bolitar from Harlan Coben’s adult crime thriller series of books. It’s time for a YA version of the story. Shelter is the first in the series of those books, following Myron’s nephew Mickey.

In Shelter, we find out how Mickey ends up living with his estranged uncle. Mickey’s father has died, and his mother has gone to rehab. That leaves the teenager with nobody to care for him, so he has to move to a new town and a new high school during a difficult time in his life.

If only he could just figure things out as a normal teenager. The problem is that life never really is simple, is it? Mickey finds out that a new girl has gone missing, and now he wants to get to the bottom of the mystery. He soon realizes that this small town has a lot of secrets. With his new friends, he heads out in search for all the secrets to get to the bottom of this mystery, only to find out that it may connect to an older one.
