Harlan Coben’s Shelter is the big release on Prime Video at the end of the week. What is this new series going to be about?

A lot of Harlen Coben novel adaptations head to Netflix. We’ve seen a lot of limited series based on many of the psychological thrillers. Now it’s time to get a new series at Prime Video, and this is based on Coben’s first YA mystery series.

It’s not surprising that Amazon is making another push into the YA space. It started off relatively strong with The Wilds, but the pandemic caused some problems. However, The Summer I Turned Pretty has made it clear that there is still an interest, and now it’s time to capture the young adults interested in mystery thrillers.

If you love the likes of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, this is going to be for you. Of course, you want to know what Shelter is going to be about before you dive right in.

Harlan Coben’s Shelter synopsis

The series follows Mickey Bolitary, the nephew of one of Coben’s most popular protagonists. Mickey has to go live with his uncle after his father’s death and his mother needing to go into rehab. This is a complete life change as he needs to change high school, make new friends, and get used to living with someone he barely knows.

If only it was just a case of figuring out the new high school and grieving. Instead, Mickey is thrown into a local mystery. When a local girl goes missing, Mickey is determined to get to the bottom of it. He teams up with Spoons and Ema to figure out what actually happened that fateful night.

It turns out that this quiet community has a lot of secrets. Doesn’t it seem like the smallest of towns always have the biggest of secrets? Mickey could help to uncover a decade-long mystery.
