Is The Summer I Turned Pretty renewed for Season 3?
We may be in the middle of strike action, but Amazon has made a decision about the future of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Is it a good decision for fans?
We are still working out way through The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2. The show airs on Fridays, with the finale set to air on Friday, Aug. 18. However, that hasn’t stopped Amazon from making a decision about the show’s future.
The second season has brought the second book to life. While there was a small change to the story at the end of the first season, it didn’t bring much change to the second season. The difference is getting some flashbacks of the time between the books. Has this given fans more of a reason to tune in? Has it been good for viewership to land the show a third season?
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 is officially happening
It’s great news for fans. Amazon is so happy with the performance of the show that it has already granted The Summer I Turned Pretty a third season.
The third season is set to follow the third and final book in Jenny Han’s series of stories. That book is We’ll Always Have Summer, and you’ll certainly want to check it out once you’ve watched the second season finale in a couple of weeks.
It turns out that the renewal actually came through much earlier than now. It was before the SAG-AFTRA strikes started, but Amazon has been sat on the news this whole time. Why would Amazon do that? Probably to make sure there was news and buzz around the show at a time when the actors can’t promote anything.
When can we expect the third season? Usually, we would say next summer. As of right now, there is a lot in the air. The writers can’t work on scripts and the actors can’t film, which is likely to delay the release of the series.
The Summer I Turned Pretty airs on Fridays on Prime Video.
