We would love nothing more than to see The Lord of the Rings Season 2 already. Could it arrive on Prime Video this year, or will we need to wait for 2024?

Fans of The Lord of the Rings knew that they would be in for a long wait. It took years to get the first season from the announcement of the series. Of course, the pandemic didn’t help with that, but there was always going to be a delay.

This is a show that requires a lot of work when it comes to the graphics. Just look at how impressive the graphics were for the first season. Whatever you thought of the storyline, you had to admit that the graphics were worth the wait.

So, what about the second season? Are we expecting a long wait for that or did the early renewal help to keep the wait to just a year between seasons?

When will The Lord of the Rings Season 2 come to Prime Video?

We have some disappointing news if you were hoping to see the second season this year. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is not set for a 2023 release date. That was never in the plans even before the writers strike.

In fact, the writers strike isn’t affecting anything just yet. The scripts were already written in full, and everyone has decided to keep the production work to schedule throughout the strike. It’s not clear what will happen when it comes to rewrites during filming, so it will be interesting to see what happens with the finished product. However, filming is ongoing right now.

It looks like the plan is to bring out the season sometime in 2024. It could even be toward the end of 2024, which would match the size of break The Wheel of Time has also had, which is also a big project with major graphics to include in post-production.
