Citadel Season 2 is not coming to Prime Video in June 2023

There was some good news just ahead of the Citadel Season 1 finale. Citadel Season 2 is happening, but it’s not happening just yet.

In some great news, Citadel Season 2 is happening. The official renewal came through just ahead of the Season 1 finale, although we had a feeling long before then that it was happening. While the show hadn’t officially been renewed by Amazon, there was a lot of talk of production moving from the UK to California.

Now we know that it will happen. But here comes the bad news. There is going to be a wait for the series. The second season is not arriving this month, which isn’t all too surprising when you consider we’ve only just seen the first season play out.

When will Citadel Season 2 come to Prime Video?

We are probably in for a wait. While there were rumors of Season 2 happening, it doesn’t look like there was anything officially confirmed. That could mean there were no scripts written ahead of the official renewal, so now this show is in limbo like many others on when production can start. The writers are on strike, and that strike is showing no sign of ending any time soon.

What does this mean for the release of the series? We could be looking at late 2024 or even 2025. A lot of shows are getting pushed to 2025 due to the writers strike, including HBO’s Euphoria and The Last of Us.

There is some good news in the world of Citadel, though. The universe is already expanding with the Italian spin-off Citadel: Diana. That is set to arrive in 2024, which will mean it doesn’t feel quite as long before we get the second season, even if it is in 2025.
