Citadel Season 1 comes to an end tonight on Prime Video. Fans will want to know if there’s going to be a second season of the spy drama.
Update May 26: Citadel is officially renewed for Season 2.
Amazon upped the stakes with the quality of Citadel. It has been a fun and adventurous show that wasn’t always predictable in storytelling. The first season comes to an end tonight. The finale drops at midnight UK time on Friday, May 26. That means it’s likely to drop tonight, Thursday, May 25 in North America.
As you get to the end of the episode, you’ll have one big question: Will there be a second season. We need to look at what Amazon has to say about this series.
Citadel Season 2 may happen at Prime Video
Amazon has not yet officially canceled or renewed the spy drama. However, there was some good news before the series premiered. It looks like there is a second season of the series in the works, and it looks like that second season is going to film in California instead of the UK due to the tax breaks.
However, there is something working against the show (and Amazon) right now. It’s all about the writers strike, which could go on throughout the summer. While initially, that’s going to cause a problem for the broadcast networks, it’s eventually going to cause a problem for the streamers. However, nobody seems to be willing to negotiation with the writers union because the studios aren’t seeing eye to eye with what they’re willing to offer.
This could push a lot of things behind. It could mean a lot of shows that were going to get a second season now won’t. Citadel could be one of them. The wait for production to start could cost the studio too much. Although, it’s not like the studios can even greenlight many new projects right now due to the strike, so it’s probably best to stick with shows that can get straight to work once the strike is over.
Citadel is available to stream on Prime Video.
