Is Citadel renewed for Season 2? (Is Citadel canceled?)
Citadel hasn’t even premiered its first season on Prime Video yet, and we already know about the show’s future. Is there going to be a second season?
It’s not often that streaming platforms renew a show early. In fact, it’s not sure any network renews a show early. It’s only once a few seasons have aired that the networks start to feel confident in doing something like this.
However, there are the odd shows that prove to be a success just from the buildup. That often comes from the show either being highly anticipated due to the source material it’s being adapted from, or due to the people behind it.
In the case of Citadel, it’s likely the fact that it’s the Russo brothers behind it. On top of that, we have an outstanding cast that makes the show more than worth watching.
Citadel is already renewed for Season 2
Despite the show not even premiering until Friday, April 28, it looks like Amazon has already made a decision about its future. It’s worth noting that Citadel Season 2 is not official just yet, but work seems to have already started on it. Amazon is likely waiting to see how the first two episodes will perform on the streamer.
Deadline reports that the show is moving to California for filming to take advantage of tax breaks. The first season filmed in the UK.
Like many other shows, this one is getting a weekly release. The first two episodes will drop at once, and there will be one episode per week after that. There are only six episodes to the story, which does help to keep some of the costs for a big-budget show down. Releasing big-budget shows weekly makes a lot of sense as it keeps people tuning in for a few weeks instead of just days.
Citadel premieres on Prime Video on Friday, April 28.
