Did Tourmaline die in Carnival Row Season 2?

Tourmaline saw her death at the hands of the Sparas in Carnival Row Season 2. Did she die during the series finale?

Caution: This post contains major spoilers for Carnival Row Season 2’s finale.

During the second season, we found out that Tourmaline was destined to die at the hands of the Sparas. Vignette refused to let that happen, but the two of them weren’t able to get out of The Row. With the boats bombed by the Black Raven, they were stuck, and that would mean Tourmaline’s life remained at risk.

Would she end up dying like she did in her vision? Did Vignette find a way to save her? It’s time to break down the events of the Carnival Row series finale.

What happened to Tourmaline in the Carnival Row Season 2 finale?

The finale started with Tourmaline figuring out how to survive. One thing she didn’t want was Darius to be around in case he turned into a Marrok while there. She couldn’t fight two monsters a once.

When Vignette heard that the Sparas wasn’t coming to help New Dawn in The Row, it looked like Tourmaline’s vision wouldn’t happen. However, the visions have always ended up working out. The Sparas did come for Tourmaline.

She was able to hold the creature back for a while with her dark magic. That gave Vignette time to get in with some fire, but it still wasn’t enough. It didn’t help that the Sparas had gravely injured Darius. Would there be a way to save Tourmaline?

It was Philo to the rescue. Just as it looked like Philo would die the way Jonah did, Philo shot the Sparas and killed it.

Tourmaline ended the series saying goodbye to Darius, who died from his injuries with Tourmaline and Philo there with him, and then she left The Burgue with Vignette. The two married in what looked like a fae handfasting ceremony, and we’re left believing that they are able to live a peaceful life together away from The Burgue.
