Did Philo die in Carnival Row Season 2? (Spoilers)
Carnival Row Season 2 brought an end to the fight between humans and New Dawn. Would it end with Rycroft Philostrate dying?
Caution: This post contains major spoilers from the Carnival Row series finale
With Carnival Row Season 2 being the last, we knew there was a chance characters could die. One of those was Philo, who would do what it could to prevent an all-out war. New Dawn threatened everything, the Sparas threatened those he loved, and he was done persecuting the fae because they were different.
There was a lot going on in the finale. Would Philo be one of those to lose his life?
What happened to Philo in Carnival Row Season 2?
Philo initially went to the government. It turned out that the Sparas was in there pretending to be a human.
Once the Sparas realized he wasn’t getting away with anything, he flew to The Burgue. Of course, Philo followed, knowing that this would mean Tourmaline’s death. He wasn’t going to let that happen.
As he made it past the rioters, it looked like the Sparas would kill him. Philo used the moment of almost being swallowed by the Sparas in the way Jonah was to shoot the Sparas and kill it. The fight with the creature was over.
That didn’t mean the fight for Philo was over. As he took the body of the Sparas into the square to show everyone the fight was over, Philo was shot in the back. Would this be the end for Philo?
It turned out he survived the shooting. With the news that he is Breakspear’s son, he was given the opportunity to become Chancellor, but that wasn’t something he wanted. He shared that one of the fae should have that role, much to everyone else’s objections. Philo walked out and made it clear to Millworthy that he has no plans for his future now. He’ll just have to see what happens.
Carnival Row is now streaming in full on Prime Video.
