There are a few new Amazon shows this weekend, and Swarm is one of them. Is this a series to watch with the kids around or not?

Are you ready for a weekend filled with content? One of the shows to check out if you’re a horror fan is Swarm. It comes from Janine Nabers and Donald Glover with Dominique Fishback starring as Dre.

The series follows a woman who becomes obsessed with a popstar. We all know the obsession can go far, and there have been times popstars have been killed due to fans’ actions. This series takes us on that dark turn. The series is loosely based on the obsession around Beyonce. You’ll certainly see elements of that in the promo.

You’ll want to watch it right away, but is it something to watch with the kids around or not? Here’s what you need to know about the show’s age rating.

Swarm age rating

The movie has been given a TV-MA rating, which is the same as an R-rated movie. This means it’s not designed for those under the age of 18. You may decide that your older teens can watch it, but this isn’t something to immediately put on with them around. You’ll want to watch the episodes first.

There is a lot of language and violence in this movie. There will also be some heavy drug use and nudity throughout. This is a series that takes us inside the mind of someone who has become obsessed with a popstar. Just look at the trailer for a small look at some of what to expect. The trailer just scratches the surface.

You get to decide what your children watch. You know them best. It’s just worth keeping the TV-MA age rating in mind.

In Canada, the series has been given an 18+ rating. A lot of TV-MA shows end up with a 16+ rating in Canada, so that will give you an idea of the level of horror that’s in this show.
