There were a few Amazon shows canceled throughout 2022. Some of them we’re still salty about, especially the Paper Girls cancellation.

There was a lot of bad news throughout 2022 when it came to Amazon shows. Far too many were canceled. Then there were others that were announced as being renewed but with final seasons, so they were effectively ended/canceled. We will include those shows on the list.

Some of the cancellations hurt more than others. We had some diverse and fun shows that we need more of on TV, but Amazon didn’t agree for one reason or another. We’d still love for those shows to find a new home.

Amazon shows canceled: Paper Girls

We were certainly excited about Paper Girls, based on the graphic novels of the same name. The series followed four 12-year-olds from the 1980s who ended up decades in the future. They needed to figure out how to survive and get back to their own time, as well as find out what would happen to them years in the future.

The show ended on a major cliffhanger with two of the tweens ending up in the 1950s and the other two ending up somewhere unknown. We’ll never get to find out what will happen to them now; at least, not in terms of the TV series. There are always the graphic novels.

This series brought us some much-needed diversity on TV. It was also a fun ride with a lot of mysteries to figure out along the way. We need more of shows like this.
