When will The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 come to Prime Video?
The Lord of the Rings Season 2 is officially happening. With the way things ended, we want more episodes immediately. When is it on Prime Video?
Amazon’s biggest and most expensive TV series has brought an end to its first season. The finale is now available to stream, and you’ll want to make an event of it. It certainly deserves it.
Of course, once it comes to an end, you’ll want more. The good news is The Lord of the Rings Season 2 is officially happening. We already knew that. The renewal came through back in November 2019, and we’ve been excited for it ever since.
Now the question is when the season will arrive. We know it’s definitely not coming this month, but what about in 2022? What about in 2023? How long will we need to wait for The Rings of Power Season 2?
When will The Lord of the Rings Season 2 come to Prime Video?
We have a wait on our hands. TV Guide has made that clear, along with multiple other publications. We also made fans aware recently.
Co-showrunner Patrick McKay told The Hollywood Reporter that he expects the team to be working on Season 2 for “another couple years.” That suggests 2024 as the earliest the season could arrive. It is possible that we’ll see it in September 2024, running weekly the way that the first season has.
This makes some sense. The renewal came in back in 2019, but production didn’t immediately get started on it. Production for Season 1 was still happening, and there was the big shutdown of 2020 thanks to the pandemic. Production couldn’t really get started until 2021.
It took five years from the announcement to release for Season 1. It looks like it’s something similar for Season 2. Graphics like we saw in The Lord of the Rings series take a lot of time, but they’re worth the wait.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is available to stream on Prime Video.
