Carnival Row Season 2 is not coming in 2022
We had hoped that Carnival Row Season 2 would arrive before the year was out. That’s not going to be th case, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
There was a point where rumors suggested Carnival Row Season 2 would be released in two parts. Then we heard that the season would arrive in 2022. Now everything has changed. The show will arrive in one part, but not in 2022.
Amazon has set the release date. We have to wait until February, and it’s not going to be a binge-watch. Like so many other big-production shows, Amazon has opted for a weekly release for the series.
When will Carnival Row Season 2 premiere on Prime Video?
How long do we need to wait? It’s going to be the week of Valentine’s Day. Get Friday, Feb. 17 in your diary, according to Deadline.
It looks like the show is being released one episode per week rather than a bulk of episodes at once and then a weekly release after that. It also marks three and a half years since the first season dropped on the streaming platform. That has to be the longest wait for any Amazon show, and it took a long time to get The Man in the High Castle Season 3!
Part of the delay has been the pandemic. Filming shut down back in March 2020, although five episodes were ready by that point. This was when we had rumors that the season would be split in two. Then plans changed when Orlando Bloom didn’t return straight to filming. He delayed his return to take parental leave after the birth of his daughter.
Filming did complete in September 2021. We had hoped that would mean a 2022 release date like was previously promised. Instead, it’s all been pushed to 2023.
This is also the final season, as rumored before.
Carnival Row Season 2 premieres on Friday, Feb. 17 on Prime Video.
