Did Carnival Row get canceled?
Its been more than three years since the first season aired, and fans have been waiting with bated breath to find out what happens next for Philo (Orlando Bloom), Vignette (Cara Delevigne), and all of the residents of Carnival Row. With the announcement of the second season coming to Prime Video, on Feb.17, 2023, fans are curious about the future. Is Carnival Row going to be canceled after this season?
Unfortunately for fans, yes. Season 2 will be the final season of the Amazon Original Series. The 10-episode second season has a new showrunner, Erik Oleson (Daredevil, The Man in the High Castle), after co-creators Travis Beacham and Marc Guggenheim stepped down. Guggenheim (Arrow) has remained on as an Executive Producer, while Beacham, who wrote the initial script the series is based on, has left the show entirely, citing “creative differences”.
Erik Oleson is now the third showrunner the series has seen since Season 1, I am excited to see how he will close out the series.
What will we see in the final season of Carnival Row?
The final season will bring us back to former inspector Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate (Orlando Bloom, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings) investigating a series of murders that are causing social tension to come to a peak. Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevigne, Suicide Squad, Paper Towns) and the Black Raven are plotting the revenge on the Burgues’ human oppressors.
Imogen Spurnrose (Tamzin Merchant, The Tudors, Salem ) and Agreus Astrayon (David Gyasi, Panic, Hell on the Border) have finally escaped Imogen’s vengeful brother Ezra (Andrew Gower, Outlander, Being Human) and the Burgue, ready to start a new life together, but when they encounter a radical new society, their plans are turned around.
When we see Tourmaline (Karla Crome, Misfits ) again she has inherited powers that not only threaten her fate but the fate of the entire Row…
