Chloë Grace Moretz stars in the latest Amazon sci-fi series that you’ll need to watch. The Peripheral drops at the end of the week. What is the new series about?

You may have been following the news about this series over the last couple of years. We’ve had some great casting updates, and it’s almost time to see what the noise is all about. The Peripheral arrives at the end of the week, and you can binge all episodes in one sitting.

Now you need to know what it’s about. Before you watch anything, you want an idea of the story it’s going to tell. Is it going to be something for you? This is a series that includes time travel, video games, and dystopian futures.

The Peripheral synopsis

The series is based on the novel of the same name by William Gibson. The book follows Burton, a U.S. vet from the elite Haptic Recon force from the Marines. He’s hired for a security job that is supposed to take place in cyberspace.

Instead of Burton doing it, his sister Flynne opts to do the job. While there, she witnesses a murder. Suddenly, she realizes that the virtual world may not be all that virtual. What if it’s a future that hasn’t happened yet?

Amazon’s official synopsis for the series is:

"Set in the future when technology has subtly altered society, a woman discovers a secret connection to an alternate reality as well as a dark future of her own."

It doesn’t say exactly what Flynne is going to witness in the virtual world. We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out, but we do know that characters from the future in the book are included in the show. There’s no need to change this part of the story.
