Outer Range (finally) renewed for Season 2 by Amazon
Amazon has finally made a decision about the future of Outer Range. The show has officially been renewed for a second season.
It’s been six long months since Outer Range debuted on Prime Video. It was five months ago since the two-episode finale aired. We had hoped for a quick decision on the future of it, but Amazon was very quiet.
If we’re honest, we started to get concerned about this series. After all, many shows from around March and May have already had renewals and cancellations. We know we’ll get more Upload but we’ve lost The Wilds and Night Sky. We had feared the worst for this supernatural western.
Well, Amazon has finally made a decision, and it’s a positive one for Josh Brolin fans.
Outer Range Season 2 is officially happening.
We will get a second season. There is a change coming, though. The Hollywood Reporter announces Zev Borow is stepping down as showrunner with Charles Murray taking over. However, Borow will remain as executive producer, which will help to keep the same style of series that fans initially loved.
Brolin will also remain as executive producer on the series. That’s not too surprising considering he’ll also remain as the lead. We were left with plenty of questions about the void on the Abbott field, so we had to get Royal back to get some of those answers.
There is no release date as of yet. That’s not surprising with the renewal only just coming in. While it usually takes 14 to 18 months from the release of seasons, we’re looking at a longer time for this series to take into account the extra time for the renewal. We’re looking at fall 2023 at the earliest right now.
Outer Range is available to stream on Prime Video.
