How does Butcher gain powers in The Boys Season 3?
We saw in the trailer for The Boys Season 3 that Butcher would gain some powers. How has he become a Supe, and what does this mean for The Boys?
There were a lot of questions about Butcher when we saw the initial teasers for The Boys Season 3. He has Supe powers, but this guy isn’t a Supe. Why would he even consider injecting himself with Compound-V to become a Supe? There’s no guarantee on the powers that he’d gain.
Well, the first episodes of the new season explained what happened. If you were paying attention to the full trailer, you would have also got the answers. Queen Maeve has something that will help to “level the playing field” when it comes to the battle against Supes.
Butcher takes a serum in The Boys Season 3
Butcher decides that he will take a serum, but it’s not Compound-V. At least, not in its pure form. It’s one that will make someone a Supe for 24 hours.
There are side effects, though. As well as gaining powers, Butcher suffers from sickness afterward. He also has no control over the residual powers in his system, especially the yellow laser eyes.
Right now, he looks like he just had a bad night with the drink. It won’t be too long before everyone realizes what he is really doing. He runs the risk of becoming just like all the other Supes. He’ll become addicted to the serum because of how bad the withdrawal effects are. Could this lead to him being someone the Boys have to take down, too?
It’s clear he knows he’s going the wrong thing, right now. If he thought he was doing the right thing, he’d tell everyone about the serum he’s using.
