Reacher Season 2 casting: Maria Sten will return

When Reacher was picked up for a second season, we had no idea if many of the characters would return. We didn’t even know which book the season would be based on. Maria Sten is back in Reacher Season 2.

It was very easy to understand why there was no news about characters returning for Reacher Season 2 when the renewal news initially came out. The renewal happened just days after the first season dropped on Prime Video. There were still episodes to air.

Then the finale came and went. We heard that there was a chance only Alan Ritchson would return. Again, this wasn’t surprising. Reacher is a lone wolf and it’s rare that he meets people from previous books. He travels the country to deal with situations.

However, this is TV. That means there are times that former characters need to be woven into the story. One of those characters is going to be Frances Neagley.

Maria Sten returns for Reacher Season 2

Deadline reports that Maria Sten will reprise her role of Frances Neagley. She was introduced in the TV series early. After all, she appears in Without Fail for the first time, and the first season was based on The Killing Floor.

She is very much a female version of Jack Reacher, and she is described as scary by our titular character. She’s also the only enlisted person chosen to be part of the U.S. Army 110th MP Special Investigations Unit where everyone was handpicked by Jack himself. It does make sense that she would be someone he’d call on again.

The second season is going to be based on the novel Bad Luck and Trouble by Lee Child. This is the 11th book in the series, and Neagley is an important part in the story, so bringing Sten back makes a lot of sense. This novel sees Reacher and Neagley figure out what’s going on when a man with two broken legs is thrown out of a corporate helicopter above the California desert.
