5 best movies and shows on Prime Video this weekend: The Wilds and more

Happy first weekend of May! Heading into the weekend, it is a great time to find those Prime Video features to binge. May 1 saw a huge list of Amazon movie titles released on the streamer. And this month will also see some new series as well.
Several older movies have now made their way to Amazon. Check out Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. Other great options include Field of Dreams, Independence Day, Tombstone, Office Space and Taken.

5 best Amazon movies and shows on Prime Video for the weekend
The Wilds Season 2 (2022)
The second season of the Amazon original series, The Wilds, is now available. This series follows a group of teen girls whose plane crashes while on their way to a Dawn of Eve retreat. They become stranded on a deserted island. Little do they know that they are part of a social experiment.
The experiment is organized by Gretchen Klein, the head of the Dawn of Eve program, and watches the girl’s every more via cameras hidden around the island. The girls’ current timeline is intercut with flashbacks of their lives before the crash.
Season 2 includes the group of boys who make up the Twilight of Adam social experiment.
The series has received positive reviews for performances, writing, and plot.
The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith Season 1 (2022)
The documentary The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith was recently released on Prime Video and is the account of one of Canada’s coldest cases.
This docuseries uses interviews, first-hand accounts, and family archives with rare access to key participants to look deeper into the murder of Beverly Lynn Smith in 1974. She was a 22-year-old mother who was found with a gunshot wound to the head inside of her home. In 2014 her former neighbor, Alan Smith, was arrested but has maintained his innocence for over 30 years.
Blues Clue’s Season 1 (1996)

A League of Their Own (1992)
The comedy-drama film, A League of Their Own, is a fantastic Penny Marshall-directed movie chronicling the fictionalized account of the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL).
The movie received critical and commercial fame as the tale of the all-women baseball league created during WWII that kept the public eye on baseball while the men were away at war. The movie follows sisters Dottie and Kit and their teammates as they navigate life in the new league.
Valley Girl (1983)
With Nick Cage forefront in the media, it is a perfect time to revisit an oldie that he starred in. Valley Girl is a quintessential ’80s movie.
Valley Girl, Julie Richman is beautiful, popular, and dating a Valley dude, but she breaks things off, realizing her boyfriend is a narcissist. She meets a Hollywood punk named Randy (Cage), and they hit it off. She has to decide if she wants to fit in with her friends and stay with Tommy or go against the grain and be with Randy.
