Is The Northman on Amazon?

The Northman is currently out in theaters and not available to stream anywhere. Where will it go to stream after theaters? Will it be on Prime Video?

There is absolutely no doubt as a fan of all things Vikings that you want to see The Northman. You can currently see it in theaters, and it is well worth your money. But what if you just can’t make that work right now?

You will want to see it at home on a streaming platform. That is going to happen eventually, but not right away. We see this a lot with movies coming out in theaters.

While the streaming platform hasn’t been announced right now, we can look at the production studio to get a sense of where it is most likely to go. Will The Northman stream on Prime Video?

The Northman is not coming to Prime Video first

There is some bad news. We likely won’t see the Alexander Skarsgård movie head to Prime Video right away. The movie is a Focus Features production, and those movies have a deal with another streaming platform.

We’ll get to watch the movie on HBO and HBO Max first. This is annoying since HBO is no longer part of the Prime Channels. It will be about six to eight months before the movie heads to streaming.

Eventually, it may head to Prime Video. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for that, but it’s not going to be for a few years.

The Northman will come to Amazon Video

While the movie won’t go to Prime Video for free with your Prime membership, there will be a way to watch on Amazon. You’ll want Amazon Instant Video.

The Northman will get a Digital release, and Digital releases are purchased or rented via various platforms, including Amazon Instant Video. When you buy the Digital copy, it will remain in your Amazon Library for as long as Amazon is around.
