Will Archive 81 come to DVD and Blu-ray?
Archive 81 is one of the more popular horror releases on Netflix in 2022. Will you be able to buy it on DVD and Blu-ray in the future?
Based on the novel of the same name by Daniel Powell and Marc Sollinger, Archive 81 certainly quickly caught out attention. The horror series brought us the nostalgia of the ’90s, supernatural elements, and a thriller that left us on the edge of our seat from start to finish.
You’ll likely want to watch it again. There will be clues and hints you missed on the first viewing. It’s also something you’ll likely love to watch again in a few months or years time. This is one of those that will give you something new to spot with each viewing.
The question is whether you’ll need to keep your Netflix subscription for it. Will it be one of those Netflix shows that comes to DVD and Blu-ray?
Archive 81 likely won’t come to DVD and Blu-ray
It’s not common for Netflix shows to come to DVD and Blu-ray. Even some of the larger releases, like Bridgerton, don’t end up getting the DVD release format. The ones that do get a DVD release is usually due to the contracts. Warner Bros. likes to bring its content to DVD, which is why all seasons of Fuller House got that treatment. The Last Kingdom wasn’t originally a Netflix Original Series and went to DVD, so that would continue with subsequent seasons.
There’s no reason for Netflix to bring Archive 81 to DVD unless it is written into the contract. The production studios were some of the smaller ones in the industry, so getting that into the contract would have been a little harder.
It doesn’t make sense for Netflix to put its content on DVD and Blu-ray. This encourages people to pay once to be able to watch the content over and over again.
