5 best Amazon movies for the weekend
I Want You Back
One of the newest Amazon movies is the rom-com I Want You Back. It’s just in time for Valentine’s Day.
When two strangers, Peter and Emma, meet and discover they have both been dumped, they bond over their mutual heartbreak. When they discover their exes have moved on, the pair decides to get them back with each other’s help. Peter will handle her ex while she works on his.
This film has a great cast consisting of Charlie Day, Jenny Slate, Gina Rodriguez, Scott Eastwood, Manny Jacinto, Mason Gooding, Pete Davidson, Jami Gertz, and Dylan Gelula.
Sleepless in Seattle
Nora Ephron’s Sleepless in Seattle is a warm fuzzy blanket of a movie. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and maybe cry once more.
The film stars Tom Hanks as Sam, a man who losses his wife to cancer and he, along with his son Jonah moves to Seattle from Chicago. One Christmas Eve, Jonah calls a radio talk show and persuades his father to talk to the host. Meg Ryan’s Annie, who lives in Baltimore, hears the broadcast and decides that she has to meet him.
She sets up a meeting at the Empire State Building on Valentine’s Day, just like An Affair to Remember.
The movie also stars Bill Pullman, Ross Malinger, Rob Reiner, Rosie O’Donnell, Gaby Hoffmann, Victor Garber, and Rita Wilson.
Made of Honor
Made of Honor is a great rom-com starring Patrick Dempsey, Michelle Monaghan, Sydney Pollack, and Kevin McKidd.
Tom is a wealthy playboy, and Hannah is his best friend focused on her career at The Met. They became best friends when they attended Cornell in the late ’90s and have been so since. When she becomes engaged, Tom realizes his feelings for her are much stronger than friendship. This goes on to be a wild ride of a story that heads overseas to Scotland, where Hannah’s marriage will take place where Tom will be the maid of honor.
The Switch
Inspired by a short story titled “Baster,” the movie The Switch is a great romantic comedy.
Kassie is single and 30 years old and still hasn’t found “the one.” She still wants a baby and decides to enlist a sperm donor but wants it to be someone she has met. Her best friend Wally declines as he feels it would be weird. But, when she finds a handsome, willing man for the job, Wally takes an instant dislike to him.
Nothing will be spoiled here, but you need to watch this film. It pairs Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman as the best friends and also stars Patrick Wilson, Jeff Goldblum, Juliette Lewis with a cameo by Diane Sawyer.
Say Anything
If you are a gal from the 80s, you remember this one. Who could forget John Cusack as Lloyd Dobler in Say Anything? This is a Cameron Crowe movie, and he knows how to do movies.
Lloyd is that nice guy and eternal optimist you remember from high school that all the ordinary girls adored. But, he had his eyes on someone he thought was more remarkable and everyone else thought was unattainable for him. He lives with his sister, a single mother, and her son and has no actual plans for his future. Which doesn’t sit well with the overly protective father of Diane, the girl he has fallen for. She is the valedictorian of their class and has a prestigious fellowship waiting for her in Britain, and her father won’t’ allow anything to come between her and this opportunity.
It is a wonderful tale of young love and never giving up.
